A new academic year and a warm welcome to all our newcomers

On Monday September 4, Élisabeth Crépon, Managing Director of ENSTA Paris, welcomed the students of the class of 2026 and the newcomers in their second year.

In her speech, Élisabeth Crépon underlined the ambition of the École's pedagogical project: to train engineers who will support the major technical, societal and economic changes of tomorrow through a multidisciplinary approach with a strong scientific and technical component.

She also recalled that since 2021, ENSTA Paris has been committed to a proactive approach to structuring and amplifying all its actions in favor of the ecological transition. This year, this commitment is taking concrete form with the creation of a new first-year core course, "Systemic Analysis of the Anthropocene", complemented by a cycle of conferences that will enable a broader approach to environmental issues through the expertise of external speakers.

Following this welcome, the newcomers were able to attend a round table discussion on career paths and opportunities in the digital sector, digital-enhanced engineering being one of the strong points of ENSTA Paris training. Former students Juliette Gaborit, Tristan Kalos and Teresa Salcedo were able to put their respective careers into perspective and share with the new arrivals their experience of this professional world in which ENSTA Paris engineers are particularly appreciated.

In the early afternoon, Jean-François Semblat and Fabien Szmytka, teacher-researchers at the ENSTA Paris Mechanics Department, presented a fascinating lecture featuring numerous demonstrations on the physics of sport, with a view to the Paris Olympics and the help that researchers can provide to athletes as part of the Sciences2024 program.

At the end of the afternoon, BdE members joined forces to offer newcomers a fun and sporting way of discovering the campus in the form of a treasure hunt.

The back-to-school cycle continued on Tuesday, September 5, with all newcomers taking part in the Fresque du Climat workshops, which help to get participants involved in the ecological transition by rapidly spreading a shared understanding of the challenge of climate change.
