These structures present a number of scientific and technological challenges to ensure that they can withstand this aggressive environment. Coupled with complex and repeated mechanical stresses, the corrosive nature of the marine environment accelerates their structural degradation. These factors must be considered from the beginning of the design process and the selection of materials to be used.
The European Duralink Project focuses on optimizing the durability of offshore structures and developing effective, environmentally friendly solutions to protect them against corrosion.
Bringing together 7 European players, the Duralink project was launched in July 2024 for 3 ½ years. It is financed by the European Union under the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) to the tune of over 2.5 million euros.
