PhD Programs

The merger of École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis within the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) makes it possible to offer a very high-level PhD training program reflecting the excellence of the founding schools that have chosen to join forces. The Institut Polytechnique de Paris has two doctoral schools: the IP Paris Multidisciplinary Doctoral School (ED IP Paris), co-accredited with HEC Paris and the Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematics (EDMH), co-accredited with the University of Paris-Saclay and Université PSL.

The IP Paris Doctoral School currently hosts a thousand doctoral students, supervised by more than 800 teacher-researchers (including 550 authorised to supervise research) grouped together in 30 research laboratories.

What are the PhD programs?

Two avenues are open for obtaining the title of doctor from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris: the classic three-year doctorate course in many fields, and the 5-year PhD Track, for holders of a bachelor's degree or diploma who already wish to focus on a doctorate at the end of their masters’ course.
